Marvin, a modern delight.

I was startled while listening to Pandora over some Differential Equations homework.  Suddenly a tasty groove started playing.  I couldn’t control myself.  The jazz guitar started for a few bars, then it was all in, head-first into some groovilicious jazz:  Next the trumpet and flute, followed by the drums and Bass.  The jam was so tight I had all I could do to keep myself from shouting in excitement (not that I was able to control myself).

Before today, I had never heard of the Du Uy Quintet.  Now, I am a CD richer and whole lot happier for the stanky groove I discovered.  Upon first listen, I knew I had to purchase the CD.  $8.94 and a minute on Amazon made the addiction subside.  However, the members of this ensemble are too groovy to keep me quelled for long.  Who knows how many times I listened to the piece after my first run through.  What I do know, is that with every listen, it only got better.

Every bit of the music is on point.  The chorus is just pure joy!  The trumpet and flute are echoed by the drums, bass and guitar.  It also contains, about the most perfectly musical combination between notes and rest (something I am VERY fond of)!  The bits in-between the chorus are just as fresh, with a slight whiff of composition rounding them off, allowing them to flow between the iterations of chorus.
